King’s Prince 10/26/17

I am a lucky man

a king bore a prince,

and ever since that fateful day

I’ve felt his hand against my back.

I’ve seen men abandon

the life they had made,

callously surrendering blood

as child shall ever give the same

I’ve even seen men stay

like cold shackles, stained,

red from blood and hate and cruelty

leaving beaten kids who remained

Once again I reflect

on all I have won

a family won lottery

when my feeble life had just begun

You are my prize my father

I carry in my heart,

a thankful love I only know

because you gave me it at the start
